The challenge

El Tiempo, Colombia's most influential news organization, set out to transform the way its readers consume news and information on mobile devices. The goal was to develop a modern, intuitive, and powerful application that delivered a completely renewed experience aligned with today's digital habits. The challenge was complex: as the country's widest-reaching media outlet, the product needed to serve a highly diverse audience with very different ages, interests, and consumption habits. It also had to meet the expectations of younger generations through a fresh, dynamic interface while providing advanced, exclusive features for subscribers and strengthening the value of the digital business model.

The solution

During the analysis phase, extensive research focused on user behavior and needs in the mobile environment. We conducted usability testing, user experience (UX) studies, and benchmarking against other leading applications in the market. This process was essential to define the navigation design, prioritize key features, and ensure a smooth, intuitive, and personalized experience for every type of reader.

To achieve this, we developed an app with multiple features, content formats, and high performance standards, which represented a significant technical challenge. Choosing the Flutter framework was key to efficient development and native-level performance on both platforms (iOS and Android), overcoming the limitations of other cross-platform environments.
