What is My TAP?
My TAP (My Time and Place) is a first-of-its-kind mobile app that gives people a voice when they're no longer here. It lets users privately and securely capture and store the wishes, messages, memories and information their loved ones will one day need: from final farewell and resting-place arrangements to audio, video and written messages, sentimental possessions, a life story, and a digital vault for important documents such as a Will. It doesn't replace a legal Will; it works alongside it as a modern-day letter of wishes, leaving answers instead of guesswork so loved ones aren't left piecing things together at the hardest of times.
The challenge
Building a platform to manage deeply sensitive personal information across multiple people, with different access levels, and with automated actions serving a delicate goal: ensuring the continuity and secure delivery of that information when the account holder passes away. This meant solving uncommon technical and design challenges: a multi-profile, multi-access-level model, where the holder invites trusted people ('Nominees') and stays in full control of what each can see and do; automated workflows to handle the moment of passing: unlock requests, configurable access methods (all Nominees approve, a Direct Access Key, or death-certificate verification), and the private, secure release of information only when appropriate; and handling multi-format content (audio, video, photo, text and documents) in a way that is private, secure and always under the holder's control, with the ability to update wishes anytime without being locked into past decisions or third parties. All of this in an emotionally sensitive market, where trust, privacy and security aren't extras, they're the heart of the product.
The solution
Kubo developed My TAP end to end: native mobile apps for Android and iOS (Flutter), the backend (Node.js), and the frontend with admin backoffice (Vue.js). The platform runs on a multi-profile system where the holder manages their Nominees and permissions, alongside multiple automated workflows that securely orchestrate access to information based on the chosen method, triggered only after passing. The core features —final wishes, heartfelt messages, time capsule, digital vault, sentimental possessions and life story— were built on an architecture designed to protect highly sensitive data and keep the user in full control every step of the way.
The results
My TAP is an innovative, pioneering project in a sensitive market. Recently launched, it's already growing at a rate of 20% per month. Kubo helped bring a true first-of-its-kind product to life, turning a difficult subject to address into a thoughtful, secure and rapidly growing platform.
